The MXL family of digital displays and data loggers now officially supports the AEM Plug and Play programmable EMS. You must have firmware v1.19 or higher installed for it to work.

Before it was unofficial; there are now dedicated pages on our site about it.
In terms of unanswered questions, looking back, it seems that the questions posed have generally been answered by other users. If you've got some specific questions, the best thing is to call us at 800.718.9090 (ask for Mario, who is on the west coast).
From your posts it seems that the applications you have in mind are beyond the scope of the MXL.

One very important question - can the MXL cycle between all the 19 channels the AEM EMS telemetry outputs by a press of a button. Because the docs shown at AiM site (generic docs, not AEM specific) list much smaller number of channels available for assignment at the same time.

You just pegged the limit of what this marketing guy knows, so I have forwarded your question internally to our autotech guru, Mario. I'll post his response as soon as I get it.

Rpm, speed, Gear, volts are all in the strandard view screen. In addition you
can view the remainder available by the press of a button. 4 channels are shown at once and the second page can be viewed by the click of a button.
Remember though, the AiM interface does not read ADCR 11- ADCR 16 (configurable channels); they only come thru as volts. In addition to the ECU connection the MXL provides 8 analog inputs that can accept any 0-5v sensor.
I hope this helps.

Please search the site for more info..
http://aimsports.com/products/mxl-strada/features.html
From the documentation at that site, besides the rpm/speedo/gear standard display, looks like the MXL can be configured to show 6 channels max and only 4 at the same time. So if you want to display other channels you have to hook up your notebook and reconfigure it.
Kindof retarded the way it looks it was implemented .....
What my wish is -> MXL to be able to handle all the 19 channels coming from the AEM EMS. be able to display more than 4 at the same time on the screen (i.e. all the 19 at the same time if desired), and the user should be able to specify the exact position (at pixel level) where each channel is displayed, the size of the font, the type of the gauge (i.e. text, bar, ...) etc. And lets say even have few pages of display presets switchable by a button ( i.e. I will configure one screen with the basic stuff for racing - rpm, knock, temps; then another screen with all the 19 channels in simple text mode; and won't need a PC to switch between these )
You pretty much word for word describe the display I make.
Kevin,
Do you have any of your displays in stock? Also, would it be possible to have one built that is ready for permanent install? i.e. power wire which I can splice into something, serial cable which I can hide, and a way to place the display on top of my dash by screws?

Sorry, I didn't see this until today!!! No, I current have no stock, however it'll take ~2 weeks to get one shipped out. It's easy to hard wire a display, and if you don't need the case it can save you some money since the cases cost me a lot of money to produce. Sounds like you want to build a custom mount for the display, I really can't offer much help there since it would depend on exactly what you'd want to do.

One last question. Does it support EGT readings? If so, I assume that I'd have to purchase a sensor separately...wondering if there's a sensor that sells separately without a gauge so I can use the Gauge-Tech instead.

Any sensor which the AEM can monitor can be viewed on the Gaugetech. So yes, all of the EGT channels can be viewed on the display if you connect the probes to the EMS EGT inputs.

I just thought I would chime in... I am a Gauge-Tech owner as well. When I was in the process of buying mine, sometimes Kevin was not super fast about getting back to my emails. Thats because he is a really busy dude. But, he always did eventually get back to me, answered every question and he shipped my Gauge-Tech as soon as it was ready. He is top notch.
I can tell you... that unit rocks. Very high quality. It is probably the coolest high tech toy I have purchased for my Supra yet. You will NOT be disappointed.
I recommend downloading and starting to play with the PC Software nowe so you are familiar with it then your display arrives.

Kevin got back with my tuner and the unit is in his hands. I haven't had a chance to see it in person as my car is yet to be finished, but I can't wait!!!

I am having issues with my gauge-tech display firmware update. I recently updated teh firmware on the AEM and I can't get the firmware to update to the gauge-tech display. If anyone can help me with this it would be hugely appreciated. You can email me at emale888@aol.com. Thanks in advance.
