First off, i've read every post in the archive about this issue.  I'm not using a USB to Serial adapter (although i did try when things started going south)

installed a NEW EMS and followed instructions.  I was able to send calibration a couple of times, but then i started gettint errors.  resetting the ECU didn't do any good.  can't connect to it.  after a long disconnect from it, i can sometimes communicate for a few seconds, but it "flaps" (offline to online to offline to online) and won't stay online long enough to get a progam out.

i checked the new serial cable again and all is fine with it.  So what the heck   is going on w/ this thing?

Well, I've tried cylcling the power.  no dice.

after leaving it unplugged overnight, i was able to download 2/3 of a calibration file until it started flapping again.  it never came back.

i'll call support in the morning, then, b/c it looks like i'm toasted.

thanks!

so if it connected once, and won't connect anymore, then that means that the comms resistor is fried? we already sent it off to AEM and they sent it back with nothing but new tape, didn't say anything about what was wrong with it. still won't connect even after we got it back.

we have tried 2 different types of usb connectors, and one of those cards, both with 2 different lap tops. and still nothing. we had just stuck with the usb one because it was the only one working. We also know that the car is fine because if we put the stock computer back in it will start first try, but is ruff because the setup is for the aem computer. and thats another weird thing, we had a calibration uploaded onto the computer on night and had the car running with the aem before it went out or whatever, and the next morning it wouldn't even start, so we plugged the laptop in and it wouldn't connect. seems like the box erased the calibration that was on it.

I am just curious...

What are the following calibration's options set to?

Tele1 Baud?
Tele Checksum inv?
Tele1 Mode 9bit?
Tele1 Mode Odd?
Tele1 Mode Parity?
Tele1 UART Enable?

I received parity errors and OFFLINE errors when I messed around and set them to anything other than the following:

Tele1 Baud:  <blank>
Tele Checksum Inv: OFF
Tele1 Mode 9bit: OFF
Tele1 Mode Odd: OFF
Tele1 Mode Parity: OFF
Tele1 UART Enable: OFF

Here is my situation and sounds like the same thing. First off, I have had my EMS for 2 years now with no problems.  For about a week now I have been having this issue as described by this post. Today I have a message that is as follows:

AEM Pro has descovered a problem. Please report the message below to AEM together with your last action:

Access violation at address 00630733 in module 'AEMPro.exe'. Read of address 00000000

My last actions were:
1 Connecting to the EMS.
2 Changing idle rpms.
3 Changing start up enrichment
4 Changing logging functions to pc logging.
5 Checked automapping feature to be stopped
6 Closed AEM Pro

At step six, I had the message.

Can anyone help? If not, I will contact AEM in the morning.

Thanks.

It runs fine for me, but just all the errors, I had my laptop checked this past weekend, and nothing.

What I did notice is that the timing Map goes -127 degrees thoughout the map and then it sputters and backfires.

I am going to try and reinstall the firmware to see if this helps.

Any suggestions anyone?

Thanks,
nelson

I've tried reinstalling the firmware. Things look good no more errors. All I have to deal with is the re-establishing and losing comms. My laptop is connected to com1, so I don't think that is the issue.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
