The 30-1220 EMS will be released very soon.

This EMS covers ALL 99-02 LS1 equipped F-bodies and both manual and automatic transmissions are supported. This EMS also supports the SAE J1850/GM Class 2 serial datastream on these cars so all the gauges, ABS and factory TCS work correctly just like if you still had the stock PCM installed!

This EMS is slightly different than our previous EMS's in that it will re-use the stock aluminum case of the existing PCM

More information, such as the startup calibrations and instructions will be posted here over the next couple days so please check back often.

Any and all questions are encouraged.

How adaptable will this be?
Due to the design of the GM V8 and V6 OBD2 PCM's, I can see this going into most of the GM vehicles from 96-2002.  Conversion wiring harnesses already exist to run the 99-02 PCM in the earlier models for most applications.

The adaptablity of this EMS to other applications may get kinda complected. As far running an engine on another application, that should be no sweat as the EMS is fully configurable in that respect, but where you may run into issues is with the datastream and some of the accessory controls.

Since our EMS can't communicate on a J1850 Bus directly, an additional processor has been added to the adapter board and is programmed to handle this function. It reads in information such as TPS voltage, coolant voltage, fuel level voltage, gear postion voltage, low oil switch, RPM and vehicle speed and puts that information on the bus for the rest of the car along with things such as the VIN, engine run flag, and engine type, among other things. The processor is not user programmable so any difference in the datastream information between platforms may be an issue. We will not be doing any "one off" reprogramming unless there is a very large demand for a particular application so please do not ask for it.

The processor also controls the A/C in the respect that it reads in the A/C pressure sensor and A/C request switch and based off those values, tells the EMS to turn on or off the A/C compressor clutch. The rest of the A/C control is handled by the EMS as normal. The current EMS software is not setup to read in a 0-5V A/C pressure sensor, only A/C pressure switches.

The processor also runs the transmission line pressure control solenoid because the EMS can not run it at a high enough frequency. The processor does read in the line pressure duty cycle from the EMS so line pressure vs. TPS is still user programmable but the frequency is not.

For a '98 F-Body with an adapter harness, you should be OK (don't quote me on that) but for other applications I just can't say without know more about them.

I hope this sheds some light on things.

I have a quick question, would you be willing to release the sensor cal files for the gm 24x crank wheel and the ls1 cam sensor?

I understand that this EMS is intended to run on the factory wiring harness as a plug and play setup which is awsesome. I want to keep my guages and all that goes along with it while being able to tune in real time and run up to a 5 BAR MAP sensor.

Do I have to keep my Narrow Band O2 sensors with this setup?

I had rather run the car in SD mode with just the closed loop Wide Band correction (AEM UEGO of course). I am on the fence about this setup. I have a GEN 7 DFI right now. I am seriously considering a FAST XFI system as I type. I would like to keep my factory wiring harness and guage which has me looking at the AEM Plug and Play solutiuon.

you dont HAVE to keep any of the factory sensors.  the ems is a full standalone, it will only use the stuff you tell it to use.

Cool. I may look at this in the future for a customers car. I decided to go with the new FAST system and thier Digiatl Touch screen dash/data logger combo. My car is gonna be a little more hardcore than most when the 76mm comes off and the twin 62mm turbo's go on anyway.

Does this setup still allow you to use the OBD2 plug under the dash to parr the readiness test for emisissions?
