So I have been adjusting my AFR and have got it tuned wonderful with just a couple little spots in it that I need to tweak.  But I have been having problems with my idle.l  The car will get warmed up and then the idle will start jumping up and down. Like my target idle is set at 900 RPM's and it will go back and forth between 1200 and 700 RPM's while I am sitting at a stop light or something for a short time.

The next big issue that I am having is with my cold start.  It has not been an issue because it has been nice and warm for while and then all of a sudden it turned cold and started snowing again after it had been in the 80's for a like almost a month. So when I go out in the morning to start the car it will try to start up and then kill its self just as soon as it starts.  It runs around between a 12.5 and 16.5 on the AFR while it is warming up.  Then after I get it running for a few Min's if I try to drive the car I can not until it gets up to full operating temp.  If I do try to drive the car it will run extremely lean (16.8 - 19.3) and bog the motor down if there is any loan on it at all.  But with no load it will run on the rich side like 8.5 - 10.5.  But all of this happens only when the car is not up to operating temp if like 150 or higher. And I don't always have the time to sit there and wait on the car to warm up completely.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what could be causing this to happen the way that it is.  I have included the map that I am running on.  If anyone could make suggestions to me that would be greatly appreciated.

I am going to have to put an updated map on there for you all to look at because I have made some small changes and I am having even more problems with my idle and I have no idea why.  I will be driving and then start to come up to a stop light and I take the car out of gear and just coast to a stop and if I do so the car will die.  But also when I am at a stoplight I am sitting there at the stop light and my idle is sitting there just jumping up and down and causing the AFR to be all over the place.  So could someone help me out as to what is going on with the car.  I am going to add another map here in a few minutes to show the changes that I have made.  But I think that I have pretty much gotten the cold start worked out but it could still be better.  I would like to know if I can get the EMS to start just as if it were a stock ECU in the car??

I have made yet more changes to the map and seems to help out a little bit I am still having trouble with the idle.  I am including the most current setting that I do have and a log of my drive home from work which is like a 15 min drive mostly in traffic but I did manage to get on it some just so that you could see how it does.

On thing I notice right away, your Fuel Offset vs. RPM Table will make it surge. Try zero'ing that out.

Also, try making the transitions in your Ign vs. RPM Table not so drastic. Instead of a +/- 10 degree, try +/- 5 degree.

Another thing, in your Decel Fuel options, you should have your "Fuel Off Above RPM" just a tick higher than your "Idle FB Below RPM" Value. Your cal has then overlapping.

Lastly, set both your "Idle Off if TP Over" and "Idle On if TP Less" to 3%.

Oh, one more thing... when driving and idling, watch your "O2 #1 Target Error" and "O2 #1 FB Value" to see how far off your fuel map is. Turn off O2 Feedback, get the map as close as possible, then turn back on O2 FB.

Thanks Goldfinger911 for your help!!   I hope that this will fix my problems.

Does anyone know anything about Ignition on a K20?  I think that I might have a little bit or a problem with it.   If anyone has any suggestions for my Ignition map or setting for it just let me know.

Also just a little of another issue that I am having is when I am decelerating my car is making a popping sound like it is back firing but not really back firing in the same sense.  Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this?  It might have something to do with what Goldfinger911 said above with some of my stuff but I am not sure as of yet because I have not driven since the changes but will let you all know later.

Thanks again for everyones help!!

I made a few adjustments for your cold startup.  See if they help at all.  And yes I think you have to work on your timing map.  You have negative values in some of your cells?

Try the attached call and let us know.

can you explain to me what you changed or can you redo it for me on this map that I am going to include due to the fact that I have already made the above changes to??  Just let me know what you are doing.  I would prefer that you would just tell me what you are changing so that I can learn what these functions do and I know what I am changing and I can see the after effects of each change.  Thanks for your help.

OK can someone tell me if they see anything wrong with this map.  I have made a few adjustments to it over the above maps.  I think I have finally figured out my idle issue but as to why it was the thing that I changed have anything to do with it but it did.  It was the "battery offset staged table".  If anyone can give me more insight as to what this actually does that would be great if not I guess that I am going to have to do some more research on tuning car.

Load either of the  calsl and use the compare function against the other.  That will show you all the changes.

I am still having trouble with my idle and I have no idea what is going on with it.  I have tried all the suggestions that you all have given me and still the same results.  Could it have anything to do with my Ignition maps?  Does anyone have any suggestions as to what my Ignition should be on a K20a2 motor?  I am sure that there are not supposed to be negative values in there.  But I am scared to change them with out knowing anything at all about it.  If anyone could give m some pointers that would be great.

Is there any truth to the matter of having a lightened flywheel mess with your idle?  Could that be what is causing my car to die when I get on it and then just push the clutch in and take it out of gear.  When doing this the idle drops so low that it dies.  Could any one give me some helpfulness to correct this.  Thanks guys you have been some help to me on here.
