I am currently on the Michigan Tech. Clean Snowmobile Team and our turbo charged four stroke snowmobile is completely run by AEM.  The fuel requirements for the 2009 Competition are flex fuel, I have talked to a few people and GM has a Flex Fuel sensor that will work.  My question is has anyone messed around with flex fuel and AEM at all.  Thanks

there is a post somewhere recent about that... using the user defined fuel trim with this sensor

You will have to convert the Frequency out of the sensor to a 0-5 Voltage.
Then use the EGT or User defined Fuel trim for the Fuel.
For the Spark timing, there will only the Nos map usable. But it is only an on/off condition for using that Table ( no flexible Spark trim by Flex fuel sensor output )
I requested this many times @ AEM to give us an user defined Spark trim by a 0 to 5 Volt signal. But no really response until now ( no new features will be added to the current FW )

wow, we were just talking about this. I know of a gentlman out in Oregon that is running E85 in a supra (project car). Though no flex fuel sensor but it should not be that hard to figure out what it does Smiley

I was recently thinking along the same lines; but for a different purpose...

I believe that the EMS CAN support a FlexFuel option if handled correctly.  All we need is a 0~5V input that represents the fuel density ratio of gasoline/ethanol.

AEM's EMS currently allows us to adjust fuel delivery based on a 0v~5v 'user defined input'.  Unfortunately, as "redevo7" pointed out, it doesn't allow us to modify ignition timing to take advantage of the improved resistance to detonation.

I'd like to change that and make all of the EMS units I'm currently tuning "FlexFuel" compatible...

Tell us more about GM's FlexFuel sensor..

would it be possible to use the spare speed input mapped to frequency #4 on the user defined fuel trim?

Could the Knock sensor input be used to adjust the timing?

It would be great to have timing trim and support for the GM fuel sensor.

I did some messing around with e85 and with standard 2d fuel trims one of these sensors wouldnt work.

at WOT my s2000 needed about 40% more fuel, at idle and cruise it only needed about 15% more, and it varied per rpm...
