remote tuning

How about an option to be able to have someone see what your car is doing live on thier computer and also be able to help you tune from a remote location LIVE.
Say you are in Boston and you have someone in Florida that wants to help you out with your car. You could get your car up and running on a dyno and have the EMS running with a internet connection and have your buddy tune it from Florida on his computer. (just an example)
Maybe a dumb idea but, it popped into my head on the way home from work today.
Just thought it would be pretty cool.

Scott -
Yeah, that is a pretty cool idea. We've thrown that one around here, without a definitive decision on it. I see the possiblity for horrible things happening (read: blown motors) when network latency spikes, or disconnection occurs. It would open up the market for tuners (they could really advertise over the internet) as well provide access to those in regions not covered by our tuner network. We'll definitely be giving this one more thought, though it would be pretty far down on the priority list of features. I'm glad you're thinkin about these things!

I figured you may like the idea, but also figured it would be pretty far down on the list.

It is not a bad idea at all but i think that it could be more like telemetric thing , cause you know that sometime you have to made some adjusments live.
I mean it could be by a wireless com conection or something like this , with a proper bitrate. So you can tune the car from a desk , when it is running arround the circuit.

i have done this via a VPN and some remote desktop thing .. one of my customers is an IT guy and set it all up. I tuned his car in MA from here in NC. it wasnt too laggy once we got it working properly. combining this with some videoconferencing type stuff so you can actually see whats going on and see the dyno plots would be pretty nice, much better than trying to talk someone through it over hte phone (which i think we all have had to do at some point)

i am also doing this using Ultra-VNC, a free available software for remote control Windows over the Internet.
Works great and it would be open source, so you can use it with an reminder.
I am mostly doing adjustments for Idle and driveability that way. For Power tune i will be on site

It could be done through remote desktop, but the problem with that is, while driving around your not always gonna be connected to the same network...might make things somewhat difficult

download Teamviewer and install it as private user, then its free. I have done it and works out fine.
Its so simple, just have to install it on both computers
