FYI-

I had the same issues with my tuning think pad running windows 2000.
I had to go and uninstall ALL old usb drivers - Too many versions and patches- then install a fresh one.
Problems solved!

Hope that helps-  The Spindoctor!

if your ecu does not recognize your computer, try to change your com port from 5-6 ect... to com 1,2,3,4 depends its 'in use' situation.to change your usb com port go to computer properties and device manager find the usb title (should be around game sound video controller) click properties and change the com port... just the way you can try!!!it is not complately solution...take it easy guys

Anyone having problems with Vista 32bit? Can anyone help with driver settings? I am not even able to find com ports in device manager to change them manually.

Any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Hi all big heads at AEM!
Why don't you take your time and read 3th party software manual before using it to create your own software?!?!
All problems with connecting to FIC is based on regional setting of the computer/laptop. If someone like me, from Burgundi, trying to use your software with legal Windows and correct set Regional setting result will be "Help me with connecting my laptop to FIC!!! ANYONE?!?!?". But if i change my regional setting to Germany instead my correct place (Burgundi) FIC software will work without any problem!

Try to understand that USA is not the whole world!!! There is other people living outside your illusion paradise, who MAY want to use products made only for chosen one US citizens !!!

So anyone who have problem with FIC software -> JUST change your Regional settings to Germany (other countries may work too, didn't tried, Germany was my first shoot and worked).

Have a nice day!

As mentioned in your thread, here is the to-do list to fix the USB port in Windows 7:

1. Install the FTDI USB drivers provided here
2. Plug provided USB cable into your F/IC and computer
3. Right click on "Computer"
4. Select "Device Manager"
5. Expand "Ports (COM & LPT)"
6. Double click "USB Serial Port (COM#)"
7. Select the "Port Settings" tab
8. Click "Advanced"
9. Change the "COM Port Number" to a number that is below COM16.

Just a note on step 9, usually a number around COM10 is best if all of the 1 through 16 are "in use" since most people don't use that many COM ports at one time.
