I'd like to get one of these if it is possible to get it to work right.

I did a search on here and saw that some people ordered the LS1 knock sensor but didn't have any results with it.

I talked to henry the other day about setting this up.......

wire it up to the knock pin.....

run conservative timing and/or good gas, basically make sure the car isn't going to knock.

take a log of knock #x raw .....this is the raw V produced by the knock sensor. It's going to pickup the engine noise even when the car isn't knocking
make some pulls and log

after do a xy plot of knock raw vs rpm  this is going to essentially be your threshold settings in the knock  table

set the knock sens table a little above what you plotted.....now  once you enable knock #x and setup the knock settings anything over this will be knock.

As far as the knock settings, I haven't played with those at all, may want to look at some of the other base tunes or search around for something for those.  I do know I set up my sens table like this and its worked.   I haven't actually made the knock sensor active to where it'd pull timing or add fuel.

I am wanting to setup a knock sensor, but I haven't found a good location for it yet.  I am running a Novi 2K blower so I don't have much if any spots on the front.  Where is everyone mounting theres?  I got an LS1 sensor and pigtail and the sensor is M10 thread.

I've been toying with the idea of setting up a knock sensor on my F150. The truck originally has a knock sensor with the factory ECM. Factory location is at the back of the block to the rear of the #4 injector between the tranny and the intake manifold. I'm betting all the 5.0 blocks have the provisions back there to tap the hole like mine is. Frankly I'm really suprised no one has tried this yet with the factory Ford sensor from the F150's  huh
I suppose I could Guinea pig myself out.. grin grin

I am using a GM 5.7  knock sensor with an extension adapter screwed into the block drain on the passenger side.It seems to work well so far.  Setting up for background noise took some trial and error.  When I first activated it, I set the threshold too close to my background noise curve. It basically acted like I had a rev limiter set at 4,000 rpm. Once I raised the curve at that point, It worked fine. This is my first experience in tuning an efi car myself. The last "pro" I had tune my car blew it up on the dyno because he did not activate the knock sensor -just sat and looked at all of the detonation spikes on the log after it blew.. The sensor works, only useful if it is activated.

I've used the gm knock sensor on the 302...make sure you get the one for the correct bore size.  I copied the lsx knock settings then setup the filter table myself. The setup has worked well on my car and on other setups that I've used it on.

I think I am going to try that sensor then, cause I am having issues trying to get the stock sensor to do anything at all...most likely a bad sensor. Thanks for the input! afro
