What is "Retard Limit Rev"? How is it different than the fuel/ignition cuts?

What is "2step Retard Rev"?     - v1.11

The definitions for these options are in the V1.11 conversion notes PDF.  You should have a copy of it on your PC.

Where is this stuff at ?

2Step Fuel Cut C & M
2Step ign Cut C & M
2Step Retard C & M

All I can find is:

Options-2step rev limit
2step input
2step fuel cut
2step ign cut
2step ok below VSS
2step retard rev

EDIT: OK, I did find those in: OPTIONS - FULL LIST,  but in there or in the OPTION -  2STEP REV LIMIT,   I cannot change the values. I have not tryed it connected to the ECU.

Sometimes I wonder if I have the correct PRO users guide, it is missing so much info. Mine is ver 2.0

Are you using 1.11 of the firmware? Many of the 2Step stuff has been taken over by a couple of Wizards that setup that stuff for us since people were having so many problems. You can still adjust them manually I think using the full list - are you hitting Enter after you make a change? huh

I am using 1.11    After playing some more. When I was manually changing (just playing to see if it would change) I would try something like changing 12.11 to 12.10 ..... it would go back to 12.11, I forgot that many selections will go to the closest figure that AEM likes ..... ie if you put in 6.47 psi in for a load breakpoint it will auto change to 6.42 psi.  When I tryed bigger changes it worked. And I guess the wizard is auto doing that stuff now. I was looking for a screen like earlier in this post.  Did I hit enter Huh?? You already know me to well.  LOL  Thanks for the help.

I'm not sure if 1.03 has the Wizards. I'd get off of 1.03 and onto 1.11 anyway as there are bug fixes.

A hint about some of the fields that seem to just "change". The AEM will sometimes store values out several decimal places out from what you can see. O2 Gain is a very good example of this - you can make some pretty minute changes that do NOT show up in the GUI but are still stored. My O2 Gain says 1.98 but in actually it's 1.97xxx Neat huh? Wink Oh - using the + and - keys may take bigger steps than what you can type in yourself so when doing things that need that sort of finesse you'll want to hand type the numbers in.

when setting up the two step on a couple hondas, ive noticed that on initial startup, the two step will work below vss 5mph, which is what ive been setting them at, but once the car surpasses 5mph, even if it comes back to a resting state, the two step will not work again until the ignition is cycled. Any suggestions?

Here's My settings... S15 T28 on an SR20DET. It will make around 12 PSI which is really all my street tires can stand. I really like being able to launch at this low of an RPM without any bogging or anything. I'll keep you guys posted about 60ft times with this finally set up... I am getting a little more smoke then i would like. Any suggestions?

I have the same problem with my 04 WRX. Only worked once when i was at the track and it was darn sweet  Cheesy

A 1.64 60 ft on 18" radials. Sat at staging beams for maybe 2 seconds, 6/7 psi. I am confident that high 1.50's would be possible if 2-step was working properly everytime ! I will definately be running it off a switch next time out.

Car had stock turbo with UP/DP, CAI, AEM, 19 psi.

Probably not. One of the main reasons it builds boost with a turbo is the exploding fuel spraying on to the hot turbo & manifold, causing it to spool. With the S/C you're just wasting gas if you make it do that, because you cant build boost till you get the revs up.

At least on my car I can watch the boost gauge and see the boost level vs volume of backfires = directly related.

But it's still good for controlling your lauches Wink

What's a good spread to use on the different settings? I'm just using a 50 point spread on my settings:
Fuel cut: 4500rpm
Ignition cut: 4475rpm
Retard rev: 4450rpm

I did that because that's how the original tuner set up the main rev limiter. Should that be cool or should I play with the numbers a bit? What numbers should I play with? All of them are going to change today, as it's race day so we're going to get some realtime track testing going on.

I have a turbo Mustang with a automatic using 1.11 and have a few questions.  Should I use the Hard cut or the Soft cut?  Right now I have it on Soft cut, 2Step fuel cut at 12000, 2Step ignition cut at 2500, 2Step ok below VSS 10 and 2step retard rev at 10000. I have it wired to my brake light switch so when I let of the brakes it disengages.  I am getting nasty backfires and would feel embarrassed to do this at the track.  Is there a way of taming the backfires? I would like to build a few psi while staging the car.

* Level 10 - Hard Cut
* 2Step Fuel Cut - 10000
* 2Step Ignition Cut - 2500
* 2Step Retard Rev - 10000

Use those settings and go from there

For those who said they would hit their 2 step and the rpm's would drop down a lot... take a look with your laptop hooked up.  I had mine set at 4k, and when watching my gauge cluster it drop down and bounce around 1-2k.  I took a look at the rpm reading in the software and it was working correctly, but my oem tach was just confused.
