The 4L80 uses a Input Shaft Speed sensor and the 4L60 doesnt. Though the solenoids are the same so I would think you could get it to work with some tinkering.

the supra guys are running a 4l80e off a regular ems with the trans controls....

I'm about to attempt to get a 4l80e working via aem in my 93 mustang coupe in the next few months...  I'll be sure to update with the outcome.

4L80E shifts fine with the 30-1100 box and some relays, as previously stated. Not sure if your EMS has the same I/O configuration but it should be similar and is easy to compare with the AEM instructions for the various EMSs. Only thing I wasn't super impressed with is the granularity of the pressure control solenoid control. I have basically 3 line pressures to choose from instead of a nice smooth curve on the Poopra I have running this trans. It may have something to do with the built trans or transbrake though, who knows.
