ok my friend got a 30-1030 for his swap and i want to know will it work with his k swaped teg or will it only work with rsx

The 30-1030 will work on a K series swap car with no problem.

I'm doing a K20 swap as well.
I don't have the Rsx ecu though, I thought the Ems is a standalone. But the AEM  manual says to connect the Ems to the Rsx ecu.... why? I'm confused. Will I need the Rsx ecu after all? that would be a bummer.

Are you using the multiplex? If not, then the 30-1030 EMS will work. You can download both the manuals here: http://forum.aempower.com/forum/index.php/topic,21539.0.html
