1. Purpose
AEMTuner is the latest interface software for use with the AEM EMS. It will interface with the new Series 2 EMS units and we are continuing to add features so that is supports the original EMS units as well.

This section is for AEMTuner questions and answers only. The following topics are not appropriate, please post them in their respective sections or they may be deleted:
EFI theory and/or tuning questions (How much timing should I use? What AFR makes good power?)
AEMPro-specific questions (How do I set up Nitrous or Anti-Lag using AEMPro?)
Vehicle-specific questions (which pins can be used for extra injector outputs on a 30-1050 EMS? )
EMS firmware questions (Can you add new functions to the EMS such as 12-cylinder sequential spark outputs?)

2. Workspaces
All of the display preferences, hotkeys, tabs, and menu settings are stored in the workspace file (file extention: .atw). The workspace file allows users to easily transport all of their preferred interface options for use with other PCs. If you have used AEMPro, think of the workspace file as all of the menus, templates, and program settings saved into one file that can be switched quickly and easily. If a tuner wants to help a customer troubleshoot things remotely, they can send them a workspace file that has been customized with the relevant options and channels rather than talk the customer though the process how to display each options and/or channels they need to see.

3. Tabs
Tabs allow the user to quickly switch between sets of channels, options, tables and maps. The default workspace has quite a few preconfigured tabs for related groups of items used for Start, Idle, Fuel, Spark, etc...
To create a new tab, right-click on an existing tab and select "New Tab." A new tab will appear.
You can rename the new tab by right-clicking on the name and selecting "Rename."
The color and icon associated with each tab can be changed by right-clicking on the name of the tab and selecting "Property."
Tabs can be rearranged by clicking and dragging them. For instance, if you prefer that the Fuel and Spark tabs sit to the left of the Start and Idle tabs you can click and drag them to the left.
Tabs can be assigned to hotkeys, for instance the Fuel tab is assigned to the F9 hotkey in the default workspace and the O2 F/B tab is assigned to F10. To change the hotkey assignments for tabs or other functions in AEMTuner, select Tools>>Preferences and browse to the Hotkeys section. For instance, if we'd like to reassign the Spark tab so it uses the F10 hotkey, we would scroll down near the bottom of the list, select the Spark tab, click the textbox that is labeled Hotkey, press F10 and click the [Modify] button.

4. Channels
It is possible to change the Channel names displayed in v0.99 and newer versions of AEMTuner.

Right-click the channel (or list of channels) you want to change and select Add/Remove Channel from the dropdown menu. The Channels pane will open on the left-side of the screen. Type the name of the desired channel and press Enter, or select it from the Possible Channels list; this will add the channel to the display.

Find the channel you wish to rename in the Displayed Channels list and click on it. Select and change the Display Name in the Selected Channel Properties section.

5. Series 2 EMS Firmware Differences
There are quite a few firmware differences between the Series 1 and Series 2 units. A few notable differences:
Boost Control:
Boost Error Duty table,  Boost FB Pro Gain, and Boost FB Int Gain options are always active, there are no longer options to enable or disable Boost WG Feedback or Boost FB on Error. If you do not wish to use Boost Feedback these options and tables should be set to zero. Breakpoints for Boost Target VSS table can be redefined.

O2 Feedback:
New option added: O2 FB Min Load can be used as another way to disable O2 feedback at idle or when decelerating.
O2 Gain option no longer exists. Adjust O2 Sensor #1 cal table to eliminate discrepancies between AFR gauge and EMS channel.

6. To Be Continued...
This info and FAQ thread is still a work in progress and will be updated in the future. If you have questions about using AEMTuner or features that you would like explained in more detail, please post your questions here. If there are frequently asked questions and answers that you think should be added here, please post a link to those discussions here and we will try to add them.

Thanks for reading.
