Wow...so I have been chasing this problem for weeks and need some feedback.

I installed:
1) AEM Uego Wideband

2) Autometer Electric Water Temp Gauge (with Data Logging)

3) Autometer EGT \ Pyrometer.

All nicely \ neatly wired with switchable power taken from the fuse panel and all good grounds.

With all gauges installed, the car will NOT rev past 2500rpm under load, in neutral it revs just great.

I pulled out all the gauges I installed today in frustration and the car returned to normal, revs great all the way well past 2500rpm.  So evidently, these gauges are giving some kind of "noise" \ "frequency" \ "intereference" that is upsetting the factory computer.

So what to do?

I am thinking some kind of metal based Shielding \ sheathing \ tape to eliminate this interference over these cables.

Any other ideas?

Does anyone know where I can get this type of sheathing?  After an extensive Google search, I only found that 3M has a shielding tape.

Glad the car is running normal again, but sucks that I have $500 in gauges sitting on my work bench that cannot be used Sad

Please help, especially you electrical gurus and whizs!

The car is a 1983 Datsun 280ZX Turbo, running ALL stock \ standard OEM factory fuel injection (stock ECU, stock injectors, stock AFM, stock sensors etc).

Regards - Yasin

Any details on the coolant temp gauge that does data logging?  How exactly is that set up?

Did you remove all gauges at once or did you remove them one at a time? Which gauge was causing the problem?

I'd probably reinstall each gauge one at a time until you find the one giving you problems.

Isolate the wiring for now, run it seperate from any other wiring assocated with the engine/body harness for now.

Make sure to run the gauges indepedent so that they're not sending any signals or giving any feedback to the factory computer at all.

Let us know your results.

Thank you.
