I have a FIC Installed the following way:

1. TPS Tapped
2. MAF In/Out
3. Crank Sensor Mag+/- In/Out connected.
4. MAP sensor "Onboard" hooked to a Reservoir with a Tap to all 6 ITB's.

Problem:
1. Car will Crank with Bypass, will not fire with the FIC hooked up.
2. I am only running the Crank Sensor thru the FIC. Do I need the CAM hooked up as well?
3. According to research the below is TRUE, it has BOTH Hall and VR sensors.

92 M50 Non-VANOS = Cam Sensor, VR; Crank Sensor, VR
93-95 M50/S50US = Cam Sensor, Hall; Crank Sensor, VR
96-99 M52/S52US = Cam Sensor, Hall (Proximity?); Crank Sensor, Hall

Need help here please?

We now have the AEM unit Running: The cure was (NOT) to intercept the VR Crank Signals +/-, but to TAP them for RPM input, as we are not using the retard function on the ignition at all!

Hope this helps others!

Hi,
what if I need to retard timing?
The VR sensors require an intercept of the + Crank wire and a tap of the - Crank wire. If the wires use backwards signals (the signal is through the - wire), then switch the wires.

Having the Crank wire only hooked up will usually allow you to go up to 10 degrees of retard. Any more than that and the cam sensor will need to be hooked up in most cases.

Thank you SV, the engine is not installed yet but I have a s50b32 euro m3e36 and a s54b32 m3 e46 to supercharge
I hope AEM FIC will be a good product for these projects.

It works very well on OBD1 BMW and Extrudabody ITB's. No Check Engine Lights.

We simply Tapped the Crank Trigger, Tapped the TPS, and fed a +\- Voltage to the Stock ECU via the MAF input wire, and relocated the Air Temp sensor to one of the runners! It's running Alpha-N, and this is a Street/Auto-Cross Car!

More Video's of the car running on Youtube!
