Ok, so we got the car to fire up. I don't know what happened but... I pulled the clip to the CAS, ran jumper wires to make 100% sure everything was making proper contact. When I did that all of a sudden we got signal. Hmm... Plugged it back in like normal and we then had signal... huh I don't know what happened but it works now and we didn't change anything.

On a side note. In order to get the car to fire up, we had to by pass the MSD box. I was going to send it in for repairs, but then I saw that the AEM ignition blows even the most powerful MSD away! That and having everything be matching AEM would just be damn sexy.

My latest questions...

1. If i get the 4 channel AEM CDI ignition, it should be able to be wired into a wasted spark setup using three channels with my hayabusa coils right?

2. If I  run the AEM EMS with the AEM CDI ignition, can the AEM ignition send the proper signal to an Autometer tachometer? MSD requires a "tach adapter". Is this the case with AEM? I believe the problem is due to a weak signal from the nissan optical sensors right?

Maybe you had a loose pin in the distributor connector?

You can use a 4 channel box in waste spark on a 6 cyl.

You can use the AEM EMS tach output signal to drive a tachometer.

Ok, that is what I was thinking. I am just sending in my MSD for repairs, then I will use that.

How far is the AEM capable of going before it NEEDS a capacitive discharge box to power the coils? I have heard that the AEM is not really designed to power the coils and thus should be avoided. Instead just use it to send the signal to the CD ignition box.

EDIT: Ok, I understand a little further now. The OEM z32 has the transistor that powers the coils. The ECU doesn't power the coils. This is where I was confused. Since we are not using the Z32 transistor, we therefore need the MSD to take it's place. THAT is why the AEM can't power the coils. It was never designed to.

Thanks for your input Jared. It seems as though you are one of few that has answers for me, and I appreciate that.

Ok, finally got it going. Peak and hold driver was bad, so we bypassed that. 1600 cc injectors and E85 idle just fine on a z31 when run with the AEM. Took it out and started tuning. Car is a monster on the highway. Unfortunately I don't have any video of that, just a start up.

But all is running well so far. No glitches or any kind of nonsense like I had with my Electromotive unit.
