After installing the libusb the usb ports do not work.  Also after rebooting the OS becomes unstable, audio driver quits and system blue screens.  Removing the libsub by uninstalling fixes the usb ports and unstable OS issues, but I have not tried connecting to the EMS yet.

We are just starting to talk about this in this thread...

http://forum.aempower.com/forum/index.php/topic,24011.0.html

but it might be better to be brought up in this thread since it is a bug.

So I should note I'm on a IBM Thinkpad T23 with XP Pro SP3 installed. I use the serial port and do not use any USB adapter or PCMCIA card to connect to the AEM EMS.

With the new version of AEMTuner 0.86 I could not connect to the car so I ran the USB lib file provided and still cannot connect. I get the error listed in the other thread which is here:

http://forum.aempower.com/forum/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=24011.0;attach=5548;image

I've tried on a '95 Supra and both of my 2G DSMs with none of them working. AEMPro of course works just fine still, but this version of AEMTuner does not connect. Something is not working with this USBlib file it seems and it is causing newer Vista machines to have more serious issues it looks like from what Spaghetti was saying and also the OP of this thread.

EDIT: The program (AEMTuner) does not freeze up nor does it do anything besides pop up this window. It will not connect, but I can still modify tables and all the other normal stuff besides connecting. It happens every time regardless of changes in setup (connect on program startup, connect by selecting connect from the drop down, etc...). I do not have freezing issues, nor have I noticed any issues with my USB ports or audio.

AEMTuner 0.86 will always try usb first when you try to connect to EMS. For some reason the usb library we used doesn't work well so AEMTuner will fail and won't connect.

We do notice this issue and in the current version(v0.87) I added a dialog to let user choose serial first or usb first. It'll be available to public very soon.

On our test machine(laptops/desktops with XP SP2/SP3), if we don't install the libusb, v0.86 will get the exact same error as you do " usb_find_buses return 0". But after installing the libusb, it works well.

- Draco, is your Vista 64bit?

- dsm_gsx97, can you go to "SYSTEM DRIVE\WINDOWS\system32\" and right click "libusb0.dll" to check the version? It should be "0.1.12.1".

AZ,

Checked the version of the libusb0.dll and it IS version 0.1.12.1 installed on my computer.

The error I get before installing the libusb file is different than the one I posted above. The error I get previous to installing the file is a much bigger popup of errors. I don't have a screen shot of it, but if you need one I can get it.

It really sounds like I'll just wait till 0.87 comes out and fixes the serial port to work again. Let me know if you need more information or want me to try something else.

Thanks for the quick response.

Vista Home Premium is 32 bit.

The OS is fully up todate and running stable, again AEMpro works no problem.

v0.87 released. I add the option to use serial port first. You can uninstall libusb now.
