help please, ecu wont recognize

ok here is my issue, we installed the driver for the usb to serial adaptor, and when we connect to the ecu it shows to be offline and wont go any farther, the progress bar doesnt move at all, any ideas to get it to continue?

Are you talking about the AEMTuner USB driver or your serial adapter to USB cable hardware driver?

You are trying to install AEMTuner v0.87 and not AEMTuner v0.86 right? I noticed that the link for AEMTuner v0.86 is above the AEMTuner v0.87 link and maybe you are trying the wrong one so double check that. Depending on if it is the AEMTuner driver or your hardware cable driver will be a difference.

If it is the AEMTuner driver you were to try to connect without that driver install first, and then if it still didn't work then add the driver. Did you try that first without the driver?

If it is your cable hardware driver make sure you install that before anything. The computer wont know how to use that cable adapter without it.

The cable driver tells the computer how to use the cable correctly.

The AEMTuner USB driver tells the program how to connect to the USB port.

A little info to add for dsm_gsx97's post:

From the program's view, using usb-to-serial adapter is still using serial connection to the actual EMS. So please check those:
1. make sure you have your cable hardware driver installed, so at least the serial-to-usb connection is fine.
2. In AEMTuner, go to ECU->ECU preference and select "Serial first".
3. also, the usb driver provided for AEMTuner, is for EMS2. For the current version of EMS, you don't have to install that.
