I'm posting from the United Kingdom, i have a RT10 viper in my shop at the moment fitted with a US supplied AEM EMS.

I have worked on JDM cars using AEM before but have never seen one of these EMS before.

IT is in a sealed Grey box with 4 plugs and from what i can see no serial lead access.

The owner of the car had a previous problem of which he sent the EMS back to the US to be reflashed, now a few months on the engine light is on and he has asked me to take a look at it.

The problem is i cant see any way of doing any diagnostics without being able to hook up to the EMS.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Thanks

R.

Diagnostics is done via the 16-pin OBD2 diagnostic socket.
Download the software from AEM and solder a cable (RS-232).
No chips or whatsoever needed in the cable, goes direct from the RS-232 port in your PC to the OBD2 connector.

Many thanks!

I have an OBD to USB lead for mapping japanese cars, i'll give that a shot first to see if its comms and if not get the soldering iron out.
Is there by chance a diagram for serial to OBD?

Thanks for your help

Normal OBD2 cable DOES NOT WORK!
The communication is not on standard pins and they are RS232C, so there's a direct connection to your PC's RS232 port.
I have seen the picture somewhere but can't find it now.
I worked on an engine with a spare wiring loom and soldered the 9-pin PC connector directly to the wiring loom.
If you download the package there's a lot of documentation included.
