Hello toyman,

Can you plesae attach your calibration file or send it to me at julianserna@hotmai.com? I understand most of what you are saying except for the Rad Fan parameters. I would like to see exactly what they look like so I can grasp he whole concept about the Rad Fan Functions. My concern is blowing my fan up if I have both fans running at the same time.

I can understand turning LS5 on At Less Than a certain temperature, and turning LS3 on At Least a certain temperature, but how do I tell LS5 to turn on At Less than 190 and then off below 180? I dnt get the concept of turning fans off, I only see options for turning fans on!

From your response it seems that you haven't gone to the "function" button. When you click on Options then configure outputs you have two selections "outputs" and "Functions". Select rad fan and you will see two settings. Rad Fan On above and Rad Fan Off below set them at 180*F. This sets the on/off for the rad fan whether it's hi or lo. I have ls5 set at less than 190* and ls3 set at least 190*. So what happens is this. As the car warms up and when the temp reaches 180* the lo fan (ls5) comes on. If the temps keep rising then when it hits 190* the lo fan (ls5) shuts off and the hi fan (ls3) comes on.

What I at first didn't grasp was the fact that the rad on/off was common to both hi and lo.

Thanks, toyman, you were correct, I did not play around with the Functions tab, I was only working with the Outputs tab. However, I am now more confused than before.

If I go to Options, Configure Outputs, I see two tabs, Outputs and Functions. I begin with the Outputs tab. I select the LS5 from the drop down in the Outputs group box. I now see 4 group boxes: Outputs, Basic Activation, Switched Output Configure, and Functions group boxes. All this without going to the Fuctions tab yet which is where I would go if I am to play with the Rad Fan options.

My first question is what is Rad Fan? If I have a low fan as output LS5 and a high fan as LS5, why do we need Rad Fan? What is Rad Fan stand for, any way?

On the Outputs tab, what is Switched Output Configure? What are these settings for? What should they be set to? Also, what is the Functions group box for? What settings should they have? How come I see here the ability to make it Active with a checkbox and then I can also check Rad Fan here as well? Then I go to the Functions tab and I see Rad Fan available again as a selection on a dropdown box. Here I set them as you mentioned, "... on above 180" and "... off below 180", but now I have to put it all together and figure out how all these Rad Fan options relate to eahcother and to the LS5 and LS3!

I dnt mean to ask so many questions, but I guess being a computer programmer, I can't really understand something unless I truely understand all of it.

Sincerely,
Julian Serna

Rad Fan is radiator fan. From the outputs screen only check basic activation for both LS3 and LS5. Leave the other two (switched output and functions) unchecked. At the top click functions select rad fan and set the on/off temperature values. That's all you have to do. I have no good answer about the unchecked "switched outputs" and "function" areas other than when I played with them I got unintended results. Just set it up as noted above. If that doesn't work I'll email you my cal file.
