Hi all,
have just joined this forum, I am struggling a bit with my GTS. At the moment it is running the standard ECM. sometimes it will start surging. now from what I have read this is due to the narrowband O2 sensors not liking the aftermarket 3" Exhaust. and it does feel like it as it will splutter like it is running leen for 15 seconds then clear for 15 sec then back and fwd. this is on light throttle. Anyway so I decide to get a reflash tool from ROE racing and go to find the OBDII plug and cannot find it.( my car has been converted to RHD and am guessing they either removed it or hidden it real good).
so that is where I am now. now what I am asking is
1)Is the AEM EMS a piggy back system or does it replace the OEM computer completely (IE remove old one and Plug in New one)
2)Can I rewire direct into the OEM computer another OBDII plug. do you think the reflash tool will fix the surge
3) will the AEM EMS accept wideband O2s and how many does it run.
4) Does AEM EMS run sequential injection and staged ignition?

sorry about the long winded approach but thought the whole story needed explaining

1. Yes and Yes and No. The AEM plugs into the engine loom, but the original ecu is also used with a small new cable because of the anti-theft system.
2. Yes, you will need to because the AEM ecu also communicates via the OBD2 socket. Second question I don't know.
3. Yes, 2 supplied with cables when you purchase the ecu.
4. Yes and Yes.

HI oldford,
thanks for that solves most of my problems. and sounds like AEM is the way to go. I am guessing that all parameters are adjustable with the AEM ? full control of injection and timing? and this unit just plugs directly into existing unit ( no wiring required ) definatly will save alot of the hassel of rewiring the whole car with another ECM.
what about supercharging? is this unit capable of covering that?

approx what is the price on one of these units?

thanks

Craig

There are a few extra wires required which are supplied with the unit. All you have to do is slide them into the connector.
The other side of the small loom has to be soldered into the car's wiring
The unit is capable of of running with a supercharger. The one I did has one.
A word of warning: Make sure the supply of fuel is sufficient when you are going to use a supercharger.
You need a couple of big fuel pumps and large enough fuel lines.
With a supercharger you have to relocate the map-sensor and intake air temperature sensor.
