To get away from all the sync issues that comes with using the stock tfi dist, can i just goto a msd pro billet non tfi like for a carb setup with just a reluctor wheel pickup?I would assume there is alot less variations with a setup like this so less miscommunication from the dizzy to the ems.

I'm pretty sure you'd have to modify a regular distributor to give you a cam signal.

No that's not what I'm saying.  The EMS can see a mag trigger just fine.  A normal non-EFI distributor does not have any kind of cam positioning output.  Sequential fuel injection, like the AEM EMS, requires a cam positioning input.  I personally wouldn't bother with a non-EFI distributor.  I'd just use the EPM.  It's made by us specifically for the EMS.

aem & msd stuff don't mix well usually.  Try to find a factory hall effect pickup in a stock dist. The stock dist is fine, no upgrade is needed, so putting in an msd is a waste.  Not to mention if you were to upgrade anything you'd be much better off spending $ on an epm and lsx coils.

You'll be fine using any type of msd box as long as you're not using the msd dist.
