Is the AEM range compatible with the AIM MXL digital dash range?

The 30-1900U unit in particular?

Just want to clarify that there is a suitable RS232 datastream before ordering...

Cheers  grin

I am fairly certain it will work.  Contact AIM Sports to be sure.

Try these steps.  I had the same problem at first.

Once everything is configured properly in Race Studio. (See user manual for AIM MXL and Race studio, it's pretty self explanatory) All you have to do is connect to your AEM EMS with a laptop. Go to Set-up>advanced setup>Telemetry>Telemetry wizard. Double click on AEM Serial Datastream and click OK. Now you may loose connection to your AEM for a few seconds because the AEM is now in Telemetry mode. All you need to do is cycle the power (turn key off-on) so you can reconnect to your ECU. Once there, go back to Set-up>advanced setup>Telemetry>Telemetry set-up and change the Parity setting from Ignore to none (that was my issue for my original issue) then click OK, once again your laptop will loose connection to the ecu. Close out AEM pro kill the ignition to avoid connecting the serial cable to the dash while it's on, connect your AIM serial cable to the AEM serial cable and turn back on. The Dash should now be streaming the AEM selected data.

shocked Ooops! sorry Turbogate need to pay more attention to User names, thanks anyway by the way your explanation of this issue is the best and clearest for this problem.

I have a question, did you ever found out what load units the MXL display is reading, I know in the last post of your thread you claim is ...Hg but then why AIM says is psi, I have the same issue with the psig on the AEM and psi on the MXL, well let me know what you found out.
Thanks again.

Yes, the MXL displays load in inHg when streamed from the Serial cable.  In other words, in AEM pro, if you go to configure-->Units--> Select load units and change to inHG, when you go back to a map display, the left column (load breakpoints) It will be what the MXL is displaying.  Therefore, if you want to set-up a warning light on the dash to come on at 19psi let say, you would put +- 60 inHG in race studio, and it would be right on, that's the units (Value) it undestands.  Now if you want the MXL to display the load in Psi, what John Reed was explaining is to tap into the AEM map sensor signal wire, and wire directly into the MXL  map input wire (the one available if you get their map sensor seperatly).  As far as AFR, The dash display Lambda.  AIM has released newer version of RaceStudio and firmwares since I've played with mine, so they may have addressed some of these options.  Hope that makes sense.

Well I tried inHg, Kpa, psi and even percent and none of this units matches the MXL load units that supposed to be psi, I just don't know what the MXL display is showing.
If I change the the units on the mxl display to Bar and then convert that to psi the switch back to psi on the MXL the conversion is correct but still the psi reading on the AEMPro are not the same, maybe like you say needs a separate wire from the MAP to the MXL and make a custom sensor.
