plan on using a AEM TF CDI box on my srt-4.

converting, and making my own COP system utilized on stock ecu. it'll be wastespark still w/ the help of the CDI box.  just need a lil boost for spark revving out to 8k.

What is preffered? CBR or 300m coils? and any difference in lengths between the two?  i can get 4 brand new CBR600FI4 coils, 4 new connectors/terminals, and complete cbr ign harness for 85 shipped.

or should i go the 300m route?
never seen or used either of the 2. i just know these 2 are most commonly used.  i know the 300m coils fit our plugs perfectly fine. i do not know about the CBR coils...but for 85$, i guess give it a shot?

CBR coils need a resistor type, screw in top type of plug. the AEM doesnt.

ON A SIDE NOTE:  it says that the AEM coils can only be used w/ a CDI ign. box.  what would be possible consequences of wiring it up and utilizing it as stock firing (waste spark) w/o a CDI box...aside from not as high of potential output?

and lastly, are the AEM connectors the same as the CBR? im thinking maybe picking up the CBR coils for the time being and trying to run it because its too good of a price to pass.

I'm only limited to one brand plug though if i do so (denso ITV22...2step colder irid's...12/each compared to the 3-5$/each plugs i use now), so i figure id give it a shot, and if i dont like being held down to 1 plug, getting AEM's since they fit reg coils.

waste spark COP conversions have proved themselves to be very poor on performance before (you've herd it a hundred times from me) if you do a COP it should be dirrect fire only (WS and n2o is a bad idea too)

wireing two individual coils to a single out-put will more than likely overheat it and burn the out-put or desolder it from the ECU, if you are lookng for a good bump in ignition performance without swaping plugs for street and strip all the time  a good reliable 2 channel DIS box with a high (450-500v) output will boost your coils performance (allow for as much as .01-.02 gap increase) without the need for any COP set up

the only real bennifit for our platform with a COP is the elimination of wire arc and interfierence, a good wire and no more than a 40,000v coil (more volts is NOT better)

im not sure if i 100% agree that WS is a poor performer. maybe not as ideal as DF, but there is performance to be had out of the ignition for our cars.  Hell waste spark COP setups have taken evos to 7-800 before on a similar ignition setup compared to what i built.
i built my COP...only thing holding me back is selecting a CDI box to power it...either the AEM TF or the Dynatek ARC-2..MSD box is a lil too big for my tastes since i want to mount this in my engine bay..

ill keep you updated..

welp...the 300m coils didnt work. i dont know how rage or ptp are able to utilize 2.7L coils  huh

trimmed or not, when pushing the terminal into the boot, the boot slowly pushes it out.  the 'locking' mechanism in the boot is far too up in the boot for it to grasp the terminal head.

Next step: buy CBR coils and swap out my connectors...

or ima just get a custom set of wires made for me (10mm w/ braided sleeves).  granatelli says not to use CDI boxes w/ their steel core wires...so ill take the company's advice, and not try it out on my wires.
